BURLINGTON — Scoring points in discus, javelin and shot put, Crest High’s Lancers got a solid start to their third-place finish Tuesday at the Burlington High Invitational.
Crest High’s Lady Lan-cers ended up fifth with 60 points in their division.
Anderson County High won both the girls’ and boys’ team titles.
The ACHS girls scored 138 points with Burlington in second with 98.
Anderson County’s boys rolled up 167 points. Lyndon was second with 89 points. Crest and Burlington each scored 84 points for third.
The Lancers went 1-2 in the discus and in the javelin. Dakota Ramsey won the discus with a throw of 122 feet, 5 inches and Jayden Bowen was second with a personal-best toss of 115’2”.
Jordan Morton claimed the gold medal in the javelin by one inch over Ramsey. Morton’s winning throw was 152’6” and Ramsey was second at 152’5”.
In the shot put, Ramsey placed second with a throw of 38’7” and J. Bowen had a personal-best toss of 38’13⁄4” for third place.
Kyle Hammond finished third in the long jump at 18’5” and Cole Bowen was third in the high jump at 5’4”.
On the track, the Lancers were led by Dustin Davis-Jones taking third in the 3200-meter run in a personal-best time of 10 minutes, 57 seconds. Hammond took the bronze medal in the 100-meter dash in 12.2 seconds.
Taking the silver medal was the Lancer’s 4×800-meter relay team of Davis-Jones, Trevor Holman, David Womelsdorf and Anthony Ellis. Their time was 9:27.
Ramsey, Morton, Hammond and C. Bowen combined for a third-place finish in the 4×100-meter relay in 48.95 seconds.
The Lancer 4×400-meter relay team of C. Bowen, Davis-Jones, Womelsdorf and Ellis was sixth.
THROWS also were a big part of how the Lady Lancers scored points.
Kurston Gilliland captured the gold medal in the shot put with a throw of 35’11⁄4”. She was second in the discus at 92’11” with Tessa Louk taking sixth at 77’3”.
Gilliland led a 2-3-4 finish in the javelin for the Lady Lancers. She was second with a throw of 104’2” followed by Shayla Stephens at 100’1” and Katrina Strickler at 94 feet.
Strickler had a personal-best performance in the jumping pits. She took third in the triple jump at 29’61⁄5”. She also was third in the long jump at 13’81⁄4”.
Emily Frank placed fifth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4’0”.
Ashley Catt turned in a personal-best time of 2:52.17 for third in the 800-meter run. Stephens placed fifth in the 100-meter dash in 14.8 seconds.
The Lady Lancer 4×400-meter relay team of Stephens, Louk, Frank and Catt was sixth.
Humboldt High also was at the meet — the Cubs finished fifth with 49 points and the Lady Cubs scored 18 for eighth — but the Register did not receive a report on individual results.
