Lancers, Lady Lancers finish 5th at SCCH meet

BURLINGTON — Crest High’s Lancers and Lady Lancers finished fifth in their respective divisions at Thursday’s Southern Coffey County High Invitational track meet.
The meet was held at Burlington High School. The Lady Lanceers scored 50 points and the Lancers ended up with 26 points.
Kurston Gilliland and Shayla Stephens captured gold medals in throwing events for the Crest girls. Gilliland won the shot put with a throw of 35 feet, 10 inches.
Stephens took first in the javelin with a distance of 106’111⁄2”. Gilliland was second in the event at 101’6” and Katrina Strickler placed third at 94’6”.
Tessa Louk placed third in the discus with a toss of 85’9”. Strickler was fourth in the triple jump at 28’73⁄4”.
Ashley Catt ran fourth in the 800-meter run in 2 mintues, 53.3 seconds. Stephena took fifth in the 100-meter dash in 14.68 seconds.
Dustin Davis-Jones had the top performance of the meet for the Lancers. He was second in the 3200-meter run in 11:11.56.
David Womelsdorf placed sixth in the 400-meter run in 59.52 seconds.
Kyle Hammond posted a personal-best distance of 18’83⁄4” to place third in the long jump. Jordan Morton was third in the javelin at 154’4”.
Anthony Ellis filled in for an injured Chris Brallier on the Crest 4×800-meter relay team. Ellis combined with Davis-Jones, Womelsdorf and Trevor Holman to take fourth in 9:28.34.
The Lancers’ 4×400-meter relay team of Womelsdorf, Hammond, Morton and Holman took sixth in 4:00.02.
The Crest athletes compete in Monday’s Uniontown High Invitational.
