PLEASANTON — Uniontown High’s Eagles had a tough time of it in Thursday night’s semifinal game against second-seeded Central Heights High’s Viking girls.
The Eagles were held to eight points — four in each quarter — in the first half. They trailed 19-8 and never really mounted a charge at the Vikings in the second half.
Central Heights handed the Eagles a 46-24 setback. That put Uniontown (6-5) in today’s third-place game against Jayhawk-Linn High’s Jayhawks.
Also on Thursday, Humboldt High’s Lady Cubs picked up their second win of the season. The Lady Cubs defeated Crest High’s Lady Lancers 48-30 in consolation bracket play at the tournament.
Humboldt (2-8) plays Pleasanton (5-5) in today’s fifth-place game. Crest (1-8) takes on Altoona-Midway for seventh place.
Hayden Rathbun and Hope Jurgensen each had nine points for the Eagles. Jurgensen made three steals.
Uniontown shot 28 percent, 10 of 36, from the field and was 3 of 11 at the free-throw line.
Katelin Horstick scored 16 points to lead the Vik-ings and Cecilia Wuertz added 13.
There were no reports to the Register from Crest or Humboldt on their game.
