UNIONTOWN — Crest High’s basketball teams kept up their winning ways Friday, as both the Lancer girls and boys teams picked up key victories at Three Rivers League rival Uniontown.
In girls play, Jayce Schmidt paced a balanced scoring attack with 13 points as the Lady Lancers brought home a 43-36 win.
Aylee Beckmon added 12, while Kinley Edgerton scored 10. Summer Valentine chipped in with six and Gracyn Ellington hit a free throw.
Crest (9-1) jumped out to a 13-6 lead after one quarter and kept that advantage the rest of the way. The Lady Lancers led 18-11 after halftime and 29-21 after three.
In boys play, Crest extended its winning streak to nine with a 49-46 victory.
No other statistics from the victory were available. The Lancer boys improved to 9-1 with the win.
The Lancers were scheduled to open the War on 54 Midseason Tournament in Iola.
On Monday, Crest’s girls took on Cherryvale, while the boys played Humboldt.
Results were unavailable by press time.
The Lancer boys return to action Friday against host Iola. The Lady Lancers will take on Iola Thursday evening. Results from the first two rounds will determine seedings for Friday’s final round.
