Area basketball teams compete in preseason tournaments

At the end of last week, all of the area boys and girls basketball teams wrapped up their preseason tournaments. The Register covered Humboldt boys and girls finishing second in their home tournament and Yates Center boys and girls finishing first in theirs but here are the results we didn’t get to.
Crest
The Lancers wrapped up their run in the Emprise Bank Basketball tournament by splitting versus Uniontown.
The Lady Lancers won their first game of the season on Friday when they beat the Lady Eagles 23-17.
Crest came out with nine points in the first while holding Uniontown to seven. No one scored in the second quarter allowing the Lady Lancers to take their two-point lead into the half. Crest outscored Uniontown 3-2 in the third to take a three-point lead. The Lady Lancers saved their best for last with an 11-8 fourth quarter to secure the win.
Regan Godderz scored 9 points and grabbed three rebounds while Camryn Strickler scored seven and grabbed eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Crest boys lost to Uniontown 48-37 to fall to 1-3 on the season.
After only scoring two in the first quarter, the Lancers battled back to tie it up at 17 at halftime. 16-9 third quarter gave the Eagles a seven-point lead. Crest was outscored 15-11 in the fourth quarter to close out the game.
Hayden Hermreck had 18 points in the loss followed by 14 for Jacob Halloran.
Crest will host Pleasanton on Tuesday.
Marmaton Valley
The Wildcats closed out their home tournament with losses versus Madison and West Elk. Even with that, the Wildcat boys finished third.
The Marmaton Valley boys fell 57-38 to West Elk. 
The Wildcats had a strong first half leading 14-8 after the first quarter and 25-17 going into the half. The Patriot’s defense really clamped down after that, holding Marmaton Valley to just four points while scoring 18. The Wildcats rebounded with 11 points in the fourth quarter but allowed 22 points from West Elk to close the game out.
The Marmaton Valley girls did not have the same up-and-down game in their 49-20 loss to West Elk.
The Lady Wildcats scored four points in each of the first two quarters while the Lady Patriots scored 33. Marmaton Valley stepped it up slightly in the final two quarters, scoring six in the third and fourth quarters while West Elk scored 16 to secure the win.
Marmaton Valley will have the week off before facing
The Wildcats will close out the semester by taking this week off before traveling to Humboldt on November 19.
Southern Coffey County
The Southern Coffey County boys and girls competed in the third-place games after falling to Yates Center in the semi-finals.
The boys 49-18 win over Leon-Bluestem secured a third-place finish.
The Titans outscored Bluestem 10-0 in the first quarter and from there the route was on. After a 9-6 second quarter gave Southern Coffey County a 19-6 halftime lead, the Titans continued to push their lead out of the half outscoring Bluestem 16-9. SCC put up a 14-3 fourth quarter to seal the game pushing their record to 3-1.
Kolgan Ohl had 15 points in the win while Chonner Ludolph had 13 and Dawson Leimkuhler had 10 points.
Meanwhile, the Lady Titans struggled versus Hartford falling 39-25.
The Lady Jaguars led by two after the first quarter and extended that to seven at the half. Southern Coffey County scored just four points in the third quarter while Hartford put up 10 and scored seven in the fourth quarter while the Lady Jaguars scored 8.
Crystal Alumbaugh led the way with 8 points and senior Erikah Lyons had 12 rebounds.
Up next, the Titans will travel to Marais des Cygnes Valley on Tuesday.
