Trio adds to East’s domination

Tyler Lord, Todd Stevenson and Jensen Barker added one more win to their high school careers before turning their attention to college.

BELOIT —  Marmaton Valley’s Tyler Lord, Todd Stevenson and Crest’s Jensen Barker wrapped up their high school football careers with one last win while competing in the Kansas Division II Eight-Man All-Star Game Saturday. 

Lord, Stevenson and Barker were part of the East’s 30-0 victory over the West. Statistics from the contest were not available at press time.

The trio made the all-star game following successful seasons last fall, where they would later receive All-Three Rivers League honors. 

At Crest, Barker received All-TRL honors after leading the Lancers in rushing and tackles last season. He averaged nearly 4 yards per carry for 526 yards and eight touchdowns and also completed 2 of 4 passes for a TD. 

Barker also had a team-leading 62 tackles and 42 solo tackles.

Lord, who recently signed with Central Christian College, was a standout quarterback and defensive back for the TRL title-winning Marmaton Valley Wildcats. Lord had 1,466 passing yards, completing more than 50% of his attempts for 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also racked up more than 1,200 yards rushing, averaging more than 10 yards per carry and 25 touchdowns. Lord also showed up on defense with six interceptions, 45 tackles and 14 solo tackles.

Lord’s primary target was Stevenson, who also played both ways for the Wildcats. Stevenson racked up 45 receptions for 752 yards and 14 touchdowns. Stevenson also rushed for 276 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Stevenson had 28 tackles,19 solo tackles. Thanks to his 163 yards on 13 returns with a long of 64 last season, Stevenson was one of the featured returners at Saturday’s contest.
