WICHITA — Kendra Taiclet, Iola High senior, is in this morning’s Kansas Class 4A girls’ 100-meter high hurdle final at the 2012 Kansas High School All-Class State Track and Field Championships.

Taiclet finished second in her heat Friday morning in 16.41 seconds, automatically advancing to the finals. The finals are at 9:30 this morning at Wichita State’s Cessna Stadium.

Also today junior Breanna Stout is competing in the 4A girls’ pole vault at 8 a.m. Senior Kelsey Larson is in the 4A girls’ javelin event at 1:15 p.m.

On Friday morning, a dropped baton left the Fillies’ 4×100-meter relay foursome standing on the track in the 4A preliminaries. Larson, Taiclet, Stout and freshman Ashley Campbell did not advance to today’s finals in that event.

Other area high school athletes in Class 3A, 2A and 1A went through qualifying heats on the track Friday afternoon and are competing in field events today. All the results from the state track meet will be in Tuesday’s Register.
