Four years straight Iola High’s Fillies have qualified a 4×100-meter relay team. During that time the two constants have been Kelsey Larson and Kendra Taiclet.

Larson and Taiclet will finish their IHS careers competing in two events each in the Class 4A division at this weekend’s state track meet at Wichita State.

The two seniors combined with junior Breanna Stout and freshman Ashley Campbell for the Fillies’ 4×100-meter relay team this season. The foursome has to get through the preliminaries on Friday to have a shot a state medal.

Larson and Taiclet were sophomores when the Fillies’ 4×100-meter relay team was undefeated going into the state meet. That year the Fillies earned the seventh-place state medal.

Larson also qualified this year in the Class 4A javelin. It’s the first time she has qualified in a field event at state. Larson has qualified in multiple events all four years.

Taiclet is competing in  her fourth straight state track meet. She qualified in the relay and the 100-meter high hurdles this year.

Taiclet came up just short of the finals in the 100-meter high hurdles last year. She heads into Friday’s preliminaries with the third-fastest time in Class 4A.

Stout makes her second appearance at the state meet in the 4A pole vault. She finished 13th last year.

Campbell and Stout will run in their first state meet Friday. The Fillies’ 4×100-meter relay goes into the preliminaries with the 12th-best time at 50.70 seconds.
