Jerry Daniels, a Republican, is thus far the only candidate to file in advance of Monday’s noon filing deadline.
Of local note, the filing deadline also applies to anyone seeking one of three seats up for grabs on the Moran City Council. Incumbents Nancy Houk, Warren Johnson and Kris Smith are the only ones to have filed.
Unlike the County Commission race, as well as other state seats up for grabs, the Moran Council race is non-partisan, meaning candidates do not have to file with a party designation.
A laundry list of township precincts committee seats up for grabs in Allen County also must include a party designation.
Any contested partisan seats will be decided in an Aug. 4 primary election, with the winners advancing to the November general election.
The Moran Council seats will be determined in November, unless a flurry of candidates file at the County Clerk’s office Monday morning. It would take at least 10 candidates to put the Moran Council race on the ballot in the primary.
