Maggie Jo Stevens and Brian Matthew Schmidt were married at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sept. 10, 2016, at The Timber Lakes Resort near Williamsburg.
Parents of the bride are Chuck and Michelle Johnson and Charles and Jodie Stevens, all of Ottawa. She is the granddaughter of Jeanne Ann Percy of Iola and the late William Glenn “Curly” Percy, and of Charles and Marjorie Stevens of Ottawa. Parents of the groom are A.J. and Toni Schmidt of Ottawa and Dan and Cindy Keith of Pomona. He is the grandson of Jewell Chapman and Marjorie Schmidt.
The outdoor ceremony took place overlooking the water in a shady grove of trees and the altar and wedding arbor were built by the bride’s father and brother.
The officiant at the wedding was the Rev. Lori Stevens, aunt of the bride, of Ottawa.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a strapless princess-style Essence ivory gown covered in Chantilly and Alencon laces. The natural waist was accented by a rhinestone-embellished champagne satin sash. The front of the skirt featured an asymmetrical overlay edged in lace and the circular skirt over crinoline fell into a chapel-length train with lace appliques and a ruffled bottom. The corset-style back was laced with ribbon. Her fingertip veil of imported English illusion was scattered with rhinestones and fell from a rhinestone hair accent. The veil was designed by the bride’s aunt, Maureen Ann Percy Carroll, and the veil, jeweled sash and flower girl gown were handmade by the bride’s sister, Beth Ann Snethen. The bride also wore her grandmother’s pearls as a bracelet and her Aunt Maureen Carroll’s rhinestone earrings. She carried a burgundy floral clutch bouquet with greenery and tied with champagne satin ribbon and streamers.
The maid of honor was Bethany Crawford; the matrons of honor were Amy Lynn Finch and Beth Ann Snethen, both sisters of the bride, and the bridesmaid was ReJeana Hood. The bridal attendants wore full-length burgundy Infinity gowns and carried ivory floral bouquets that matched the bridal bouquet. Gracie Kathryn Snethen, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. She wore an ivory gown featuring a bodice with flower and jewel enhancements and a full-length many-layered tulle skirt. She also wore a flowered ribbon headband and carried an ivory satin basket with burgundy and navy flower petals.
The groom was attended by his best man, Jared Harris, and groomsmen Cameron Chapman, cousin of the groom, Jay Wade, and Marcel Larios. The ring bearer was Corbin Ryker Schmidt, son of the groom. Ushers were Kirk Chapman, uncle of the groom, Noah Stevens, brother of the bride, A.J. Schmidt, father of the groom, and Chuck Johnson, stepfather of the bride.
During the wedding, the mothers of the couple read a lock and key portrait ceremony uniting the couple’s two hearts forever. An embroidered memorial tapestry honoring the loved ones of the couple who are no longer with us covered an empty chair at the front of the family seats, as well.
Wedding ceremony music was provided by Scott Snethen, brother-in-law of the bride. The bride’s mother and step-father sang to honor the couple.
Following the ceremony at Timber Lakes, a reception, buffet dinner and wedding dance were held at The Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge in Ottawa. The four-tiered wedding cake was made by Toni Schmidt, the groom’s mother, and the groom’s cake was made by his sister, Michelle Ferguson. Music for the dance was provided by PartyRockerz DJz which is owned and operated out of Ottawa by Chuck Johnson, stepfather of the bride, and Scott Snethen, brother-in-law of the bride. Many others contributed to the couple’s happy day. Guest book attendant was Abbey Kelley, stepsister of the bride. Greeters were Calah Hunt, Chelsea Hunt and Sierra Ferguson, nieces of the groom. Servers at the reception were Michelle Ferguson and April Schmidt, sisters of the groom. Parking valets were Austin Kelley and Ethan Kitchen, stepbrothers of the bride. Wedding photographer was Molly Kathleen Carroll, cousin of the bride. Stylist for the bride, her mother, and her attendants was Maureen Ann Percy Carroll, aunt of the bride. Handing out the wedding programs were Klaira Gayle Hayes, cousin of the bride, and Alex Trinkle, Austin Trinkle, Charlie Finch and Griffin Snethen, nephews of the bride. Her nephews also rolled out the white satin runner for the bride to walk down.
The bride’s sisters, Amy Finch and Beth Snethen, hosted a bridal shower in her honor at Richter United Methodist Church in Ottawa and the bride was given a bachelorette party at Funkytown Dance Club.
The couple are at home in Ottawa following a honeymoon to Colorado.
