John Thomas “Tom” Higginbotham, 80, of Iola, Kansas, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2026, at his home.
He was born March 14, 1945, in Gas, Kansas, to Floyd and Myrtle (Adams) Higginbotham. Tom spent over 30 years as a custodian at Iola Middle School.
On April 20, 1996, Tom married Carol (Lee) Higginbotham at LaHarpe Christian Church.
Survivors include his stepchildren, Michelle Huston; Traci and husband Jerry Odell; and Jameson Sr. and wife Paula Chapman; grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other extended family.
He preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Jack Higginbotham and Jimmy Higginbotham; his sister, Sharon Buss; and his children, William Chapman Jr. and Mathau Chapman.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at The Venue, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola. A funeral service is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow at LaHarpe Cemetery.
