Sarah Jane (Sally) Huskey, age 91, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026, at her home. Sally was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Butler, Missouri, to Henry Sheppard and Adeline (Nentwig) Sheppard.
She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from William-Jewell College. She and Robert Huskey were married Dec. 19, 1954, in Butler, Mo.
Sally worked as a librarian for the Southeast Kansas Library System.
Sally was actively involved with the choir and handbells at Iola First Baptist Church and Iola First Presbyterian Church. She was active in the community pantry, Sunday Soups, was a hospice volunteer, and had countless unofficially adopted kids.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, John Sheppard, and sisters, Betty Hinson and Mary DeArmond.
She is survived by her children, Mary Pridey, Jim (Danae) Huskey, Jane (Mike) Furhman, John Huskey; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 10, at Iola’s First Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Iola.
