Free dental services are available to area veterans for the month of November at Iola’s Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, 2051 N. State St.
It’s the clinic’s way of honoring veterans and active-duty military personnel, said Elizabeth Wehlage, director of dental services at CHC/SEK.
“We know that many veterans in the communities we serve haven’t been to the dentist for a long period of time,” Wehlage said.
“This event is a great opportunity for us to share our time and resources with the men and women who have dedicated their lives to our country,” Wehlage said of its Oral Health for Heroes program.
Veterans will receive dental check-ups, X-rays and cleanings at no charge. Those found to have more complicated issues, will be offered a treatment plan as well as financial assistance to help cover costs if they do not have insurance.
In addition to the Iola clinic, those in Coffeyville and Pittsburg are also participating in the Oral Health for Heroes program.
