The Big Train 14U baseball team continued its streak of placing first or second in every tournament by winning the 3&2 Slugfest in Shawnee last weekend.
Their record sits at 13-2 after three tournaments.
Boys from Iola, Humboldt and Colony comprise the team.
The Big Train started off with a 7-2 win over the Southeast Slammers from Salina. They then wrapped up pool play with a 13-10 win over the Kansas City Nationals with Eli Adams, Holden Barker and Trey Sommer combining on the mound for a winning effort.
The Big Train went on to face the Topeka Attack and won 17-5 with Jerrett Herrmann and Sommer combining on the mound for the win.
In the semifinals, they faced the Northwest Prowlers from Weston, Mo. Adams threw a perfect game in the 15-0 win aided in part by two big diving catches from Sam Hull in right centerfield and one on the third base line by Barker.
The Big Train moved on to the semifinal where they faced Hiboy from Independence, Mo. The team won 13-10 with Maddox Johnson and Ethan Godderz pitching.
When the tournament finished, The Big Train had outscored all opponents 65-27 and had used six pitchers.
After Memorial Day Weekend, theyll play in the Chick-Fil-A NIT Turf Battle in Paola and Gardner on June 1.
