The Humboldt High School Lady Cubs snapped their three-game losing streak in dramatic fashion after demolishing Tri-Valley League rival Fredonia 14-0, 11-0.
The Lady Cubs put both contests away before the sixth inning while improving their TVL record to 6-2 and 6-4 overall Thursday night.
Senior pitcher Shelby Shaughnessy pitched an 11-strikeout no-hitter in the opener while also tying sophomore third base-man Kamry De La Torre for the team lead in RBIs with the pair hitting three each.
Fredonia senior outfielder Hailie Blackwell broke consecutive innings without a hit with a grounder in the fourth inning while facing Humboldt sophomore Jo Ellison, but by then the Lady Cubs were already leading 10-0.
Ellison ended the day with 11 strikeouts over five innings. De La Torre once again wrapped up the game as Humboldt’s RBI leader — tied with sophomore outfielder Carlie Weilert and junior shortstop Laney Hull with two each.
Following Friday’s non-conference doubleheader with Iola, the Lady Cubs jump back into TVL action Tuesday on the road against Eureka. First pitches for Tuesday’s games are 4:30 and 6 p.m.
