Sgt. Dave Sterling of Iola talked to fourth grade students at Lincoln Elementary School about the various prosthetics he uses, in conjunction with a recent science lesson about how plants and animals must adapt to survive. Different prosthetics and attachments allow him to perform tasks; this one is for hunting. Sterling was deployed to Iraq as an infantryman with the U.S. Army in September 2003. He lost part of his right arm in April 2004 when he was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade.
