Windy and cool weather conditions prevailed Monday morning at the annual Iola High Buck Quincy Invitational golf tournament. The 18-hole event was held at Allen County Country Club.
Two players handled the weather conditions and the course the best. Yates Center High’s Jake Morrison and Fort Scott High’s Kyle Brittain came in at 83.
Morrison took top medalist honors on a scorecard playoff. Morrison shot a 40 for the first nine holes and 43 the second nine.
Brittain led Fort Scott to a big win as a team. The Tigers combined for a 358 and landed three golfers in the top 10 places.
Coffeyville was second with a 373. Iola High’s Mustangs finished third with a 378 followed by Independence at 400, Parsons 410, Yates Center 420, Chanute 435, Iola B at 459, Burlington at 469 and Girard at 543.
Iola’s Jarrett Mosbrucker earned the 10th-place medal with a 93 (46-47). Zach Crawford had a 94 (45-59), Sam Shallah had a 95 (47-48) and Kris Collins shot a 96 (4848).
The Mustangs went 10-13 in the individual standings. Nick Jacobs and Doug Stewart, also on the Iola A team with 14th and 17th respectively.
Jacobs ended up in a tie for 14th along with Yates Center’s Paul Stockebrand with 97s. Stewart shot a 98.
Other scores for Yates Center were Blake Francis at 110, Mason Hartwig at 130 and Tanner Sheldon shooting a 139.
Iola’s B team was led by Rocky Smith with a 110. Hayden Wolf shot a 111 and Lee Berg had a 113. Dean Headley carded a 125 and John Hutton had a 151.
