FREDONIA — Yates Center’s MaKayla Jones battled the rain to finish in 18th place at the Class 3-2-1A Golf Regional on Monday. She shot a 153.
“It rained all day, the wind blew and it seemed to get colder as the day went on,” coach Kevin Barnes said. “But, MaKayla played like an Iron Woman through it all.”
Only two golfers shot below 100 on the day. One of those was Eureka’s Reagan Boone, who won with a 91.
Jones qualifies for the Class 3-2-1A State Golf Tournament on Oct. 20 in Emporia.
