Yates Center softball gets road sweep of Crest

Yates Center softball traveled to Crest on Monday and came away with a sweep. 

The Wildcats won 6-5 in game one and 14-2 in game two. 

Yates Center moves to 7-3 after the sweep while Crest falls to 4-4. 

Crest grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the second inning but they didn’t have it for long. The Wildcats scored four runs in the third and two in the fourth to push their lead to 6-1. 

The Lady Lancers responded with two runs in the fifth to get within three leading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Crest managed to get two more runs to cross to get within a point but that’s as close as they got. 

Taylor Jacobs earned the win, allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits and six walks with five strikeouts. 

For Crest, Ridley Black earned the loss allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits and a walk with five strikeouts. 

Morgan and Maddie Collins each had three hits in the win for Yates Center. Regan Godderz had two hits for Crest including a triple. 

In game two, after a 3-1 first inning for Yates Center, the Wildcats added two more in the second and another in the third to go up 6-1. 

The Lady Lancers scored their final run of the game in the fourth but Yates Center kept on rolling, scoring three in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh. 

Maddie Collins earned the win for the Wildcats, allowing two runs (zero earned) on two hits and three walks. She struck out six. 

For Crest, Godderz got start and allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits and five walks with two strikeouts in three innings.  

Aubrey Holloran came in for the final four innings, allowing eight runs (four earned) on four hits and six walks. 

Jewel Armstrong and Regan Godderz had two hits apiece for the Lady Lancers. Godderz hit a triple and she reached base two other times on walks. 

Jacobs had three hits and five RBIs to lead the way for the Wildcats. Morgan Collins and Jordan Weseloh each had two hits and Maddie Collins had a hit and four walks.
