BURLINGTON — Paul Stockebrand and Sam Aguirre, Yates Center High cross country runners, set goals for themselves going into the dual Burlington High Invitational/Tri-Valley League races Thursday.
They both met their goals.
“Medals have been kinda scarce this season for our guys so to have the two of them bring home three medals was kind of a shot in the arm for us,” said Kevin Barnes, YCHS cross country coach.
Stockebrand set his sights on finishing top 10 in TVL and top 25 overall. He finished 27th overall and earned the eighth-place medal in the varsity boys’ race for the Tri-Valley. His time for the 5K race was not available.
Aguirre ran the boys’ junior varsity two-mile race in 13 minutes, 33 seconds. He wanted to finish in the top five and he claimed fourth place.
The Burlington races also served as league races for Three Rivers League.
The Register did not have results from Humboldt in TVL action or from Marmaton Valley and Crest in TRL competition by deadline.
