GIRARD — Yates Center High’s two runners got their first taste of competition of the season and Humboldt High’s runners competed in their second meet of the season in Thursday’s Girard Invitational.
Yates Center’s Paul Stockebrand claimed ninth in the boys’ varsity 5K race. He ran the distance in 19 minutes 32 seconds.
Humboldt was led by Reece Criger in 11th place at 19:42. Jacob Jones placed 17th in 20:25 followed by Nick Keazer in 28th at 22:27 and Dylan Greve in 39th at 23:50.
Humboldt’s Raquel Hill placed 20th in the girls’ 4K race in 21:08.
The junior varsity races were both two-miles.
Sam Aguirre of Yates Center placed 22nd in 14:26. Humboldt’s Kile Martin was 25th in 14.36 followed
by Logan Yokum in 30th in 15:03 and Michael Davis in 43rd at 16:05.
Humboldt’s Michaela Bartlett and Kelsey Cramer were 25th and 26th, respectively, in the girls’ junior varsity race. Bartlett posted a time of 21:40 with Cramer finishing in 21:41.
Humboldt completed the Anderson County meet last Friday. Jacob Jones was 33rd, 20:14, and Reece Criger was 38th, 20:52 in the varsity race. In the JV boys’ race: 42. Dylan Greve, 23:41, 52. Kyle Martin, 25:14, 60. Logan Yokum, 26:56.
