Yates Center High girls beat Patriots

YATES CENTER — Yates Center High’s Wildcat girls overcame a slow third quarter to pick up a non-league win at home Tuesday.

The Wildcats were up 20-12 at halftime over visiting West Elk High’s Lady Patriots but stumbled a bit coming out in the second half. The Lady Patriots outscored the Wildcats 13-9.

Yates Center still had the lead, 29-25, heading into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats maintained it with a 14-9 run in the final eight minutes.

Lindsay Francis fired in 16 points and made five steals for the Wildcats. Emily Baker and Mindi Holloway each added 11 points. 

Holloway pulled down six rebounds.

West Elk was led by Alex Zaragoza with 11 points.

Yates Center jumps back into Tri-Valley League play Friday at home against Burlington.
