EUREKA — Mindi Holloway ran a personal-best 17.88 seconds in the preliminaries of the girls’ 100-meter high hurdles at last Thursday’s Eureka High Invitational track meet.
But in the finals, the Yates Center High sophomore fell but did complete the race, finishing fifth in 21.35 seconds.
Holloway came back to win the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 37.8 seconds. Haley Bedell took sixth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 57.64 seconds.
Paige Steinforth placed fourth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4 feet, 4 inches. Lindsay Francis took sixth in the long jump with a leap of 13’10”.
Rylie Albert raced the 100-meter dash in 13.8 seconds for fifth place. Albert made the finals of the 200-meter dash but did not place, running the race in 30.7 seconds.
Steinforth, Francis, Albert and Holloway combined for a bronze medal in the 4×100-meter relay race in 55.3 seconds.
Yates Center’s Sam Aguirre claimed the gold medal in the boys’ 110-meter high hurdles in 15.9 seconds. He was second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 44.5 seconds.
Also for the Yates Center boys, Ceaton Cooper was second in the 800-meter race in 1:11.3. Aguirre and Cooper combined with Myles Dice and Bryce Leon for third in the 4×100-meter relay race in 48.3 seconds.
