BURLINGTON — Yates Center’s golf team competed at the Burlington Invitational on Tuesday. The team played nine holes in Burlington — at Rock Creek Country Club — and nine holes in New Strawn at Prairie Wind.
“The two courses are very different, with the New Strawn course being very open and long, while Rock Creek is only a par 34 course so it is significantly shorter, but shot placement is much more critical,” coach Kevin Barnes said. “Overall, the boys played better than they did yesterday, especially our putting, so I am pleased with that. Since everyone shot lower scores, our team total was down, too, and I think as we get a little further along in the season we should get that quite a bit lower as well.”
Remi Wagner shot a 91 for 20th place. Zach Kress shot a 101 for 27th place. Jon Barnes took 33rd with a 105. Cheyenne Gill shot a 119 for 39th. The team finished in seventh with a 416.
