Yates Center golf finishes second at Three Rivers League meet

High School Golf: Yates Center Wildcats

The Yates Center golf team came away with a second-place finish at the Three Rivers League golf meet in Uniontown.

The Wildcats shot a 383 overall as a team and finished behind Jayhawk-Linn.

“We knew everyone would have to shoot great for us to win,” head coach Kevin Barnes said. “We gave it our best effort but came up a little bit short.”

Freshman Easton Reynolds led the way for Yates Center with a third-place medal after shooting an 81. Jayhawk-Linn’s Trenton Compton finished first overall with an 80.

Sophomore Reece Solander finished just behind Reynolds in fourth after shooting an 84. Taven Smoot finished just outside of the top-10 after shooting a 99 and losing a tiebreak for 10th place, ending up in 11th.

Jaylan Knight finished 17th with a 119 and Kaden Petit finished 18th with a 123.

The Wildcats will head to the Olpe Regional on Monday at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course. As of press time, regional pairings had not been announced.
