YATES CENTER —  Applying full-court pressure to open the game, Yates Center High’s Wildcats put the clamp down on visiting Humboldt High’s Lady Cubs.

The Wildcat girls picked up their third Tri-Valley League win of the season by the count of 45-26. Yates Center is 5-12 overall.

Humboldt remains winless in league (0-11) play. The Lady Cubs are 2-15 overall.

“We got after it early and used our press effectively. It allowed us score some easy baskets in transition,” said Abbie Collins, Yates Center head coach.

Yates Center was up 23-10 at halftime. The Wildcats maintained their edge in the second half.

“It was a tough night.  Taylyn Wells and Whitney Stack are still out with injuries,” said Sherri Nelson, Humboldt head coach.

Yates Center got 15 points from Emily Baker, who had three three-pointers. Paige Steinforth and Kendra Leach each pulled down nine rebounds.

Kindahl Young led the Lady Cubs with 10 points.
