HARTFORD — Settling is not setting well with Yates Center High girls’ basketball head coach Abbie Collins.
“Our girls weren’t very aggressive offensively. We settled for the outside shots and didn’t attack the basket,” Collins said after the Wildcats lost 51-28 in a non-league road game to Hartford High’s Jaguars.
Yates Center (3-8) was only behind by three, 8-5, at the end of the first quarter. Then the bottom fell out.
The Jaguars were up 18-8 at halftime and 38-15 after three quarters of play.
Paige Steinforth scored seven points and had six rebounds for Yates Center. Emily Baker added seven points.
The Wildcats host West Elk Tuesday and Burlington next Friday.
