Yates Center girls lose to Chargers

CHERRYVALE — Yates Center High’s Wildcat girls lost 57-38 on the road against Cherryvale High’s Chargers Tuesday.

“The girls played hard but just couldn’t finish in the fourth quarter,” said Abbie Collins, YCHS head coach. “We have to play all four quarters.”

Cherryvale led 10-4 after one quarter. Yates Center got untracked, scoring 15 points in the second period but trailed 23-19 at halftime.

The Wildcats tossed in 11 points in the third but the Chargers answered with 16. Cherryvale finished the game on an 18-8 run in the fourth for the Tri-Valley League win.

Bailie Chambers posted a double-double for the Wildcats. She scored 14 points and cleared 11 rebounds. Emily Baker added nine points.

Yates Center  hosts Humboldt in TVL action Friday.
