Yates Center girls dominate Humboldt

YATES CENTER — Yates Center High’s Wildcat girls have worked on pressuring the basketball on defense. They did just that in a 60-7 win over Tri-Valley League rival Humboldt High’s Lady Cubs Friday.
“We pressured the ball better, we got offensive rebounds and turned them into points and we got the ball into our post players,” said Abbie Collins, Yates Center head coach.
Autumn Douglas poured in 18 points, had seven steals and blocked four shots in Yates Center’s runaway. Kassy Reynolds added 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Yates Center powered out to a 16-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and was up 37-6 at intermission.
The Wildcats also got 11 points from Cherokee Shaffer.
Humboldt was led by Whitney Strack with three points.
Yates Center (7-9)  plays at Burlington Monday and at Fredonia Tuesday.
Humboldt remains winless on the season. The Lady Cubs host Cherryvale Tuesday in TRL play.
