Late last week, the Yates Center junior varsity golf team faced some tough winds at Jayhawk-Linn.
Two golfers, Jaylan Knight (56) and Wyatt Buchanan (57) placed in the top 20 with a 16th and 17th place finish respectively.
Taven Smoot (62) finished 23rd and Krais Backer (66) finished 31st.
It was a windy day on a pretty tough course, head coach Kevin Barnes said. Jaylan and Krais both shot career best scores. The new players are starting to talk about mental mistakes they know they made and how they need to think about their shots more to lower their scores.
The Yates Center varsity will compete today at Fredonia.
