Yates Center boys win home meet

HS Track: Yates Center Wildcats

Yates Center track and field hosted their annual meet on Tuesday. The Wildcat boys earned a first-place finish nearly 64 points ahead of second place Humboldt.

Junior Hadley Splechter unsurprisingly led the way for the Wildcat boys, earning first-place finishes in the 800 (1:59.76) and 1600 (5:18.73) while also earning first along with Jordan Smith, Colin Bedell and Kobe Forsyth in the 4×800 (9:20.11).

Bedell placed first in the 3200 with a time of 11:33.90. Smith finished second (11:51.01) and Austin Moffet finished third (11:56.91)

Forsyth finished first in the 400-meter dash

(55.25) and Thayne Smith finished first in the 100-meter dash

(11.92).

Smith along with Kayle Smith, John Righini and Quin Lowder finished first in the 4×100

(47.02) and Austin Crab-tree grabbed a first-place finish in both the 110 (17.82) and 300-meter hurdles (45.34).

Smith finished third in the 110-meter hurdles

(19.55) and 300-meter hurdles (47.69).

Righini finished second in the 100-meter dash (12.04) while Lowder finished third to go with a second place in the 400-meter dash.

Up next, Yates Center will head to Wichita on Thursday to compete in the Wichita State Pre-State Challenge.
