Yates Center baseball sweeps Crest

Yates Center baseball made quick work of Tri-Valley foe Crest Tuesday night in Colony. 

The Wildcats won game one 23-4 in four innings and 20-8 in five innings in game two. 

Yates Center evens its record out at 5-5 after the win while the Lancers move to 2-6.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 17-0 lead after an inning and a half. Crest answered with four runs in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 17-4 but that would be as close as they  would get. The Lancers didn’t score again in the game. 

Yates Center scored six more runs in the top of the the inning. 

Caden Graham earned the win for the Wildcats after allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk in three innings. He struck out six.

Asher Sievers, Tyton Smoot and Joey Smith each had three hits in the game. Smith had four RBIs. 

Nolan Jones, Carter Burton and Rocky Petit each had two hits. 

The Wildcats had 10 stolen bases. 

Jacob Holloran earned the loss for Crest, allowing 13 runs (seven earned) on eight hits and three walks with a strikeout. 

In game two, Yates Center put up eight in the first and five in the second to take a 13-2 lead after two innings. 

The Wildcats scored two more runs and Crest scored one leading up to the fifth inning. Yates Center put up five runs in the top of the fifth and the Lancers countered with five runs of their own in the bottom of the inning which weren’t enough to stop the game from ending on a five-inning run rule. 

Kendrick Jones earned the start and the win, allowing three runs on four hits with two walks. Jones struck out 10. 

Carter Burton and Graham each had three hits and Sievers, Smoot, Jaymond Rice and Jones had two hits.

The Wildcats stole 10 bases.
