BURLINGTON — The Allen County Wrestling Club had its best performance of the season — perhaps one of the best in the history of the organization — by picking up 22 top-four finishes at the Burlington Open.
Leading the way were Nate Hammond, Kendall Jay, William Jay, Dylon Rieter, Cooper Riley, Conner Sallee, Gage Scheibmeier and T.J. Taylor, all of whom won their respective divisions.
Garnering second-place finishes were Adam Atwell, Korbin Cloud, Guisseppe Mangrella, Drayden Reiter, Clay Shannon, C.J. Shields and Ryan West.
Those placing third were Tripp Chapman, Thomas Hall, Cole Mathes and Creed Shannon.
Trenton Jones, Casey McKarnin and Curt Shannon all finished fourth.
Allen County finished 14th out of 34 teams.
“The boys wrestled hard, listened and dominated throughout the day,” head coach John Taylor said.

THE BURLINGTON tournament followed a pair of competitions the previous weekend.
On Jan. 11, several wrestlers competed in the Frontenac Youth Brawl.
Brayden Boyce won his division. Taking second were Jacob Benedict, Curt Shannon and Creed Shannon. Cloud, Trenton Jones and Clay Shannon were third. Placing fourth were Cole Mathes, T.J. Taylor and Ryan West.
On Jan. 12, a group traveled to Bonner Springs. Dylon Reiter won his age group. Jack Adams and C.J. Shields took second, Drayden Rieter, third, and Atwell and Riley in fourth.
