HUMBOLDT — Two nights of racing in one weekend.
Jeremy Willard made the most of back-to-back race nights at Humboldt Speedway over the weekend. Willard captured pure stock feature race wins on the local dirt track Friday and Saturday.
Willard opened with Friday’s race running away from runner-up Blake Kisner, who drove from the middle of the pack for second. Jarrid Johnson came across in third place followed by Levi Phillips and Tyler Kidwell.
On Saturday night, it was a wire-to-wire victory for Willard in the pure stock division. Derek Michael finished second with Kidwell in third place. Matthew Kay and Michael Aiello rounded out the top five.
Scott Stuart powered his way to his first factory stock feature win at the Speedway on Friday holding off Jeremy Wilson. Brandon Weide had a strong run for third place followed by Derrek Wilson and Billy Shadden.
Jeremy Wilson came blazing back Saturday to take the factory stock victory. He did it by passing all four of the other top five finishers in the race. Weide chalked up a runner-up finish with Ethan Lamons in third. Derrek Wilson ran fourth and Shaden had another fifth-place finish.
The always competitive modified division saw Jess Folk Jr. had things set up for a victory on Friday night. He maintained a strong lead for 18 laps of the race then the caution flag came out.
Jess Folk and John Allen, who had been closing ground, were up front for the re-start. Folk went to the high side, taking the lead again down the back straightaway. Allen was the runner-up followed by Paden Phillips, Scott Daniels and Ryan Whitworth.
Another wire-to-wire win Saturday came in the modified division as Terry Beckham II won for the second time at Humboldt. Ryan Whitworth ended up in second and Daniels was third. Allen finished fourth on this night and Gene Hogan placed fifth.
Riley Whitworth used the high banks of Humboldt Speedway Friday night to capture a win in the B-Mod feature race. Whitworth got past pole-sitter Jeremy Chambers, who finished second. Dalton Kirk got around Tim VanGotten for third and Terry Bruner ran fifth.
On Saturday, VanGotten had the top run of the night, going wire-to-wire for the B-Mod race win. Jimmie Davis turned in his best finish of the year with second followed by Riley Whitworth. Scott Collins finished fourth and Ray Maloney was fifth.
The USMTS Modified Tour returns to Humboldt Speedway this Friday. Adult admission Friday is $17 and children, 12-and-under with parents, is $5. Pit passes are $30. Gates open at 6 p.m.
Ticket prices for the multi-night October races are expected to be announced this weekend along with other details of the USMTS event.
