Wildcats win pair

MOUND CITY — Marmaton Valley High’s volleyball teams picked up two more wins on the road Tuesday.

The Wildcats, playing in matches hosted by Jayhawk-Linn, downed Crest, 25-17, 25-22, and Northeast-Arma, 25-20, 25-12.

Emily Meiwes led the Wildcats against Crest with eight points, while Mackenzie Tynon had seven points, three kills and two blocks.

Tynon had seven kills against Northeast, while Kaitlin Ensminger had 18 points and Meiwes had five kills.

The Wildcat junior varsity also won twice, downing Northeast, 25-10, 25-10, and Jayhawk-Linn, 11-25, 25-19, 16-14.

“The girls stepped up tonight to secure their wins,” JV coach Jamie Stodgell said. “They had to battle back from a large deficit in the second and third sets to take Jayhawk. Their teamwork and determination paid off.”

Leading the way in the JV match were Shauna Knight, 18 points and two kills; Kenzie Harrison, 16 points and two kills, Misty Storrer, 15 points and six kills; Tessa Olson, eight points, four kills and four blocks; Alex Thomas, seven points and two kills; Tanna Lutz, six points and three kills.

Marmaton Valley is at Pleasanton Tuesday.
