ST. PAUL — The Marmaton Valley basketball teams hit the road on Tuesday for a matchup with St. Paul.
The Wildcat girls opened varsity action for the night with a 41-11 loss to the Indians, who improved their season record to 6-1.
The Wildcats were led in scoring by senior point guard Kyla Drake with five.
Bailey Griffith, Taryn Covey and Misty Storrer each scored two points to round out the rest of the Marmaton Valley scoring in the girls’ game.
The Wildcats dropped to 0-7 this season.
The Marmaton Valley boys also had their struggles with St. Paul, losing 61-31.
The Wildcats hung in the game through the first quarter trailing by 12-8 after eight minutes of play.
Caiden Elliott had a pair of three pointers to keep the Wildcats close.
The second quarter saw the wheels come off for the Wildcats however. St. Paul outscored Marmaton Valley 16-4 in the second period to grab a comfortable 28-12 halftime advantage.
Justice Pugh led the Wildcats in scoring with 16 points while Elliott was second with his six first-quarter points.
Josh Wise added four points and Gage Griffith and Brock Hall each had two points.
Isaac Heskett rounded out the Marmaton Valley scoring with one point.
