Wildcats split with Altoona-Midway

Marmaton Valley split on Monday with Altoona-Midway. The girls won 47-19 while the boys lost. Janae Granere had 19 points.

BUFFALO — A 14-3 second-quarter run lifted Marmaton Valley High’s girls to victory Friday.

The Wildcats, behind the scoring of sophomore Janae Granere, broke open a 6-3 lead on the way to a 47-19 victory.

Marmaton Valley’s boys, meanwhile, dropped a 57-40 decision to the host Jets.

Granere scored a game-high 19 as the Wildcats extended their lead to 35-14 after three quarters.

Tayven Sutton scored nine and Brynn Newman added eight. Aly Ard and Kailtyn Drake notched four apiece. Pauline Thery scored two.

Summer Raymond paced Altoona-Midway with 11.

There were no statistics available from the boys matchup.

The Wildcat teams are back in action tonight at Jayhawk-Linn. They’ll be home Friday against Chetopa.
