Marmaton Valley and Crest took to the hardwood for Tuesday night volleyball action. The Wildcats mustered a split, while the Lady Lancers lost both of their matches.
Marmaton Valley
The Wildcats won in two sets in their first match versus Northeast Arma by scores of 25-21 and 25-18. Bailey Griffith was active on offense and defense, recording five kills and two blocks. Kayla Ard complimented Griffiths efforts with three kills and three blocks. Aly Ard and Kendall Scharff both collected three kills apiece. In Marmaton Valleys loss against St. Paul, the Wildcats fell in two tightly contested matches by scores of 25-20 and 26-25. Griffith led the way once again with six kills and three blocks, and Kayla Ard also chipped in on the attack with three kills.
On the JV side of things, the Wildcats were unable to pull off a win in either match. Marmaton Valley fell in three sets against Northeast Arma by scores of 23-25, 26-24, and 6-15. Madi Lawson posted a team high four aces along with three kills. Carissa Mattox also provided three kills, and Tayven Sutton provided three kills along with three aces. The Wildcats dropped both sets to St. Paul by scores of 25-16 and 25-10.
Crest
The Lady Lancers were unable to carve out a victory, losing in two sets to both Pleasanton and Uniontown. Linsey Godderz controlled the back line with 16 digs along with a 100% serve rate. Sydney Stephens propelled the attack with six kills, and Anna Hermreck along with McKenna Hammond chipped in five kills apiece.
Head Coach Abigail Hermreck believes the Lady Lancers are moving in the right direction.
We are going to continue to pull together and work through frustrations, Hermreck said. I am seeing some really great things out of each individual player and as a team. I know that we just have to celebrate the small stuff and not get discouraged! One point at a time and it will all come together.
