HS Golf: Yates Center
OLPE Yates Centers phenomenal freshman and sophomore continued their solid play at the 2A regional golf tournament in Olpe Monday.
Sophomore Reece Solander and freshman Easton Reynolds each finished in the top five, thus qualifying for the state tournament.
Solander shot a four-over 75 which, good for second, while Reynolds finished in a three-way tie for fourth. He claimed fifth after eagling the second hole of a sudden-death playoff.
As a team, Yates Center was just three strokes away from qualifying, finishing with a 405.
Kaden Petit finished in 26th with a 115 and Taven Smoot finished 33rd with a 133.
Considering our teams oldest player is only a sophomore and the rest are freshmen, I am very proud of how they did, head coach Kevin Barnes said.
Solander and Reynolds will compete in the 2A State Tournament on Monday at Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg. Tee time is set for 10 a.m.
