The Yates Center Wildcats kept their win streak alive Tuesday night when the Wildcat boys and girls took care of Northeast-Arma at home.
The boys move to 16-2 and 8-0 in Three Rivers League play while the girls move to 14-4 and 7-1. The win is the seventh in-a-row for both teams.
The girls won 54-37.
The Lady Cats led 15-13 after the first quarter and pushed that lead to seven at the half with a 13-8 second quarter. Yates Center outscored the Lady Vikings by 10 in the third to take a 17-point lead and both teams finished the game with a nine-point fourth quarter to keep the 17-point lead at the buzzer.
Junior Allie Pringle had 14 in the win followed by 10 for junior Taylor Jacobs. Sophomores Jaylee Catron and Madi Collins scored nine and eight points respectively.
The boys followed that up with a 65-51 win.
Yates Center led 14-9 after the first quarter and then came up big leading up to the half, outscoring Northeast 21-7 in the second quarter to take a 19-point lead into the break. The Vikings didn’t just lay down though, outscoring the Wildcats 19-11 to cut Yates Center’s lead to 11.
The fourth quarter isn’t a usual place to find the Yates Center starters. With as many blowouts that they’ve played in this season, the starting five Wildcats are often on the bench long before the fourth quarter. But after the Vikings third quarter push, the Yates Center front line regained their composure and outscored Northeast 20-16 to close out the game push their lead back to a very comfortable 14 points.
Coming off a stellar game last Friday, junior Aaron King came up big again, leading the way for the Wildcats scoring 26 points including 12 in the fourth quarter. Senior Kobe Forsyth and Jordan Smith followed behind with 11 and eight points each.
Yates Center will hit the road to take on St. Paul on Friday for their second to last regular season game.
