Wildcats grab wins versus Northeast-Arma

The Marmaton Valley Junior High boys basketball teams got wins Tuesday night versus Northeast-Arma.
The A-Team won 25-16 thanks to a strong defensive effort.
Both teams were tied at four after the first quarter but the Wildcats outscored Northeast 6-3 in the second quarter to take a three-point lead into halftime. Arma cut Marmaton Valley’s lead to just one point thanks to a 5-7 third quarter. The Wildcats finished strong on both ends of the floor, outscoring Northeast 10-2 in the fourth.
Eighth-grader Quincy Adams had a big game, scoring 15 points on seven field goals and a free throw. Noah Aiello and Colten Woods each scored four points and Bryce Carman had two points.
Meanwhile, the B-Team found themselves in a fight but came out ahead in the end, 27-25.
Northeast outpaced the Wildcats out of the gate, taking a 9-4 lead into the second quarter. The Wildcats turned the tables on Arma in the second quarter, holding them to just four points while scoring 10 of their own to take a 14-13 lead going into halftime. Marmaton Valley duplicated their effort in the third quarter holding Northeast again to four points while they added nine more to push their lead to six. Arma made a run in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 8-4 to cut their lead to just two but not less as the Wildcats escaped with the win.
Carman had a team-high eight points followed by seven for Noah Aiello. Evan Kent had six points and Jarrett Herrmann and Bryce Ensminger each had two points.
The Wildcats with play at Uniontown on Thursday.
