Wildcats fall to St. Paul on the road

The Marmaton Valley volleyball team lost at St. Paul in three sets on Tuesday.
The match was incredibly tight with each set being decided by just two points. St. Paul won the first set 25-23, but Marmaton Valley turned the tables with a 25-23 win in the second set.
St. Paul got the last laugh with a 26-24 third set victory to send the Wildcats home disappointed.
“This game was a perfect example of us not finishing when games are close,” Marmaton Valley coach Terra Kegler said. “We play it safe. We refuse to hit to help seal the win. It is definitely a mental issue, because physically, we are more than capable.”
Senior Kyla Drake led the Wildcats with 10 kills.
Sophomore Patricia Outlan was a presence at the net with seven kills and two blocks.
Senior Misty Storrer and junior Shayla Brooks each added six kills.

JUNIOR VARSITY
The Wildcat junior varsity was able to pick up a straight-set victory over St. Paul by winning 25-9 and 25-19.
Marmaton Valley lost its second game in three sets against Jayhawk-Linn.
The Wildcats won their first set against Jayhawk-Linn 25-22, but lost the second and third set, 25-19 and 15-12.
Rachel Shaffer, who finished with 10 total in the two games, led Marmaton Valley in kills.Kari Shadden contributed five kills and Bailey Griffith and Emily Smart each recorded a pair.

UP NEXT
Marmaton Valley goes to the Uniontown Tournament on Saturday.
