MORAN — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s boys and girls had a rough go of it Monday against powerful teams from Oswego.
The Wildcat A team boys dropped a 45-15 decision to Oswego, while the girls A team fell 49-16.
The B team girls won 11-5, while the B team boys lost 14-10.
Girls head coach Kim Ensminger said Oswego’s A team is a powerful bunch, with three players approaching 6 feet in height.
Misty Storrer led the Wildcats with 10 points, followed by Kyla Drake with four and Nalea Alexander with two.
Trinitee Gutierrez scored nine of Marmaton Valley’s 11 points in the B team girls contest. Makayla Brooks scored the other two.
“It was a great defensive effort on the part of all of the girls,” Ensminger said.
In the boys A team contest, Wildcat coach Scott Brady praised Oswego’s passing game.
“We had a lot of shots rim out, but they were a very good team,” Brady said. “They moved the ball better than any team we have seen so far.”
Justice Pugh scored 11 to pace Marmaton Valley. Trevor Wilson and Noah Foster scored two points apiece.
In the B team’s 14-10 loss, Brock Hall scored four points, while Ethan Tavarez, Tony Jefferis and Korbin Smith scored two each.
“It was close all the game,” Brady said. “It just didn’t go our way at the end.”
Marmaton Valley hosts Crest tonight and Pleasanton Thursday.
