Wildcat girls deck Oswego twice

OSWEGO — Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcats outlasted host Oswego High’s Indians 19-12 in the first game Thursday just kept things going for a 16-5 run-rule win in the second contest.
The wins puts Marmaton Valley at 5-3 in Three Rivers League play. The Wildcats are 8-10 overall.
The Wildcats scored in every inning but the third and never trailed in the score-fest. They up up 7-4 through three innings then scored three runs in each of the next four innings.
Oswego plated five runs in the bottom of the seventh for the final margin.
Shelby Norman was the winning pitcher. She gave up six hits, walked four and struck out seven.
“Shelby finished the game with a strikeout then field a hot one right back to her with two runners on base,” said Brenda Mills, MVHS softball head coach.
“We played good team ball Thursday.”
Michelle Heskett had two doubles and one single. Alysha Westhoff had two doubles.
Kailey Boyd tripled. Cheyanne Miller, Maggie Meiwes and Morgan Henry each had a single.
Marmaton Valley used an 18-hit attack to win the second game. The Wildcats led 8-1 through four innings. The game was called by run-rule in the sixth inning.
Jamee McEndree cranked out four singles for Marmaton Valley. Heskett hit two singles and a double.
Hitting a single and a triple each were Miller, Boyd and Kacie Shadden. Kayla McNutt had two doubles. Westhoff had a single and double. Meiwes doubled.
Marmaton Valley goes to Altoona-Midway Monday to end the regular season.
