PLEASANTON — Yates Center High School girls fell behind early at Pleasanton on Friday night. The Wildcats tried hard to fight back but still lost 33-26.

Both teams came out fast, scoring early and often. The Blu-Jays scored a few more and played very sound defense over the first half to grow their early lead.

Pleasanton led 20-14 at the half.

Yates Center tried hard to fight back and get into the lead but every time the Wildcats did, Pleasanton had an answer. Yates Center was held to four points in the third quarter, putting the Wildcats behind the eight ball in their attempt to comeback. The Wildcats found holes in the Blu-Jay defense in the fourth quarter and outscored Pleasanton 8-7 but it wasn’t enough to get the win.

Addison Solander scored 10 points. Callyn Miller scored nine. Morgan Collins scored four. Hannah Jones and Allison Chrisman both had two.

Yates Center, 1-7, will host Cherryvale on Tuesday in the first round of the Wildcats’ Mid-Season Classic.
