HERRINGTON — The Yates Center boys will have a full slate on the track in Wichita on Friday and Saturday after qualifying for the state meet in every running event except the 4×400 relay.
Sophomore Hadley Splechter led the Wildcat team with first place finishes in all four of his events in Friday’s regional meet at Herington.
Splechter won the 3200-meter run with a 10:40.25, the 1600-meter run with a 4:52.31, the 800-meter run with a 2:04 and he joined with Colin Bedel, Jordan Smith and Kobe Forsyth to win the 4×800-meter relay with a 8:50.96.
Bedell finished second in the 3200-meters with Smith in fourth. Smith was second in the 1600-meter with Bedell in fourth and Smith also was second in the 800-meters.
Levi Cooper will be going to state in three events after he joined Quin Lowder, Thayne Smith and Forsyth to take first in the 4×100-meter relay with a 45.96.1. Cooper also won the 400-meter dash with a 52.46 and took second in the 200-meter dash.
Thayne Smith qualified in the 100-meter dash by taking second.
Austin Crabtree will run both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles in Wichita after finishing fourth in both at the regional.
The Wildcat boys took first as a team in the regional.
The Wildcat girls didn’t finish with any state qualifiers.
