Wichita native wins at Hummer

HUMBOLDT — With mild temperatures and abundant moisture, Humboldt Speedway saw tight racing on the oval on Friday evening. 

In McCarthy Auto Group USRA A Modified action, Wichita driver Cody Schniepp fended off fellow Wichita native Tad Davis for a hard- fought victory. 

Schniepp’s family and fans were able celebrate his first visit to victory lane at Humboldt Speedway.

In Ray’s Metal Depot USRA B Mod action, Fort Scott veteran Randy Zimmerman took his car to the checked flag by out-dueling fellow Fort Scott driver Jerry Morgan for the win.

In the Fastshaft by Axle Exchange Street Stock feature David Young from Dewey, Okla., outpaced Tyler James and Jason Anderson to pick up the win.

The Pure Stock feature was won by Chanute driver Derrick Wilson who fought off last week’s winner Wayne Johnson for the additional prize money.

The Sport Compact feature was won in decisive fashion as Chanute driver Tevyn James picked up his second feature win of the young season.

Winners of the annual bicycle races were as follows: 

6 & Under: 1st place- Matthew Claunch, 2nd place- Addison Drake, 3rd place- Annibell Green.

7-9 1st place- Chance Aiello, 2nd place- Kacklyn Green, 3rd place- Jayden Claunch. 10-13 1st place- Dustin Robertson, 2nd place- Tyler Knewell, 3rd place- Cayden Vance

 

Next week at the Humboldt Speedway is the Whitworth Memorial $2000 to win B Mod Special. Modifieds, Pure Stock, Street Stock and Sport Compacts will also be racing.
