West Elk defeats Wildcats

Marmaton Valley saw its bid for three straight victories come to a halt Friday. West Elk jumped out to a 38-0 lead after one quarter in a 62-14 romp.

HOWARD —  A slow start did in Marmaton Valley High Friday.

The Wildcats trailed 38-0 after the first quarter, falling to West Elk, 62-14. 

The defeat drops Marmaton Valley to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in district play.

Marmaton Valley Senior quarterback Garrett Henderson completed 8 of 20 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. 

Jaedon Granere was his primary target, catching six passes for 65 yards and a score. 

Quincy Adams rushed for 20 yards and had 21 yards receiving.

West Elk’s running back by committee approach churned out 202 yards on the ground with eight different players getting touches. Freshman Creyo Koop led the way with 95 yards on seven carries.

The Wildcats host Oswego Friday.
