Weers surpasses 1,000 career points at SCC

Southern Coffey County senior Josie Weers propelled her Lady Titans past Central Heights as she notched her 1,000th career point on Tuesday. Weers finished the game with 23 points, a very normal occurrence.

LE ROY — Josie Weers surpassed 1,000 career points in Southern Coffey County’s 49-20 victory over Central Heights Tuesday night. Weers scored 23 points for the Lady Titans.

In the boys contest, the Titans (1-19) finished a forgettable regular season with a 93-23 loss against the visiting Vikings.

Lady Titans 

It was all about Weers from tip-off as she scored six points in the opening quarter on a trio of two-point baskets. Kaydence Gunlock and Karley Ohl also knocked down three’s to take an early 15-6 advantage. 

Bailey Brockus came through for the Vikings, scoring a couple of three-pointers in the first quarter. She then added on three more points the rest of the game to finish as Central Heights leading scorer. 

Weers continued her rampage in the second quarter when she hit a three and went underneath for four two-point baskets to finish with 17 first half points. SCC led Central Heights at halftime, 31-12. 

Jalea True led the Lady Titans with seven points in the second half while Weers netted six points. Central Heights could only muster eight points in the second half, including two points in the fourth on a Jadynn Criqui layup. 

SCC was led by Weers’ 23 points and True’s 12 points. Ohl also added nine points. 

Titans

SCC got stampeded by Central Heights, 93-23. 

Thomas Nickel led the Titans with 13 points, followed by AJ DeAnda’s eight points.

The Titans now await their substate matchups.
