CHANUTE — A passing rain storm prompted a two-hour delay Thursday for Iola High’s tennis players Sam Fager and Ethan Riebel.

Even though the rains had moved on before the 1 p.m. start time, crews spent the better part of an hour cleaning water off the courts.

Then, came another wait for the surface to fully dry.

Once play began, both Fager and Riebel went 1-3 on the day to take sixth place in their respective divisions.

Fager played against the other school’s no. 1 singles players; Riebel in no. 2 singles.

Iola will be at home Thursday in a makeup date after the Mustangs’ original home matches were rained out in March.
